A native of Ventura County, Alex proudly hails from a Mexican immigrant family and is versed in a range of musical genres. He has been creating original music for nearly two decades. His influences range from Hans Zimmer, a wide variety of Latin music styles, Tool, Native American/indigenous drumming, and more. His range has made him an ideal collaborator.
Working from a deep emotional place, he approaches each film on its unique terms. Among the AdeRisa Production films he has scored, his credits include the following Latino Public Broadcasting projects: Amigas with Benefits (2017), Ode to Pablo (2019), and The Daily War (2021, directed by Karla Legaspy).
He also scored the company’s first short film, Forgiving Heart (2012); and their first indie feature film, Bruising for Besos (2016); as well as Guarding Santos (2019) written by Marisa Becerra. Most recently, he composed original sci-fi music for Adelina Anthony’s HBOMAX Pa’Lante Promise/Warner150 Artist project: Harvest: Seeds of Humanity (2022).
He is working on releasing his next original album in collaboration with Eddie Valenzuela and Josh Valenzuela. Currently, Alex offers private lessons in guitar to youth and elders in Camarillo, CA.
